Beware of the Human Garbage Disposal

As I watched my husband eat practically a whole bag of Doritos, 150 calories per serving..12 servings per bag, I wondered how in the hell am I supposed to encourage more healthy eating in my girls. The three of us want to eat better. Not necessarily diet per se, because my girls don't need to diet, but to make smarter food choices. They do really well as long as my husband and stepson aren't eating everything in sight. Sad part is, he lets his son eat just as much as he does because he's thin. He's an active kid, and right now, he's keeping all the junk food off. It always catches up in the end though. Been there, done that.

Hey hon, I went back and forth to the doc's for years with an undiagnosed under active thyroid - they just threw their hands in the air and said, sure, with four young kids, one disabled, of course you're tired! You're probably depressed too.. oh, and stop eating so much, you're also over weight..

FINALLY, I paid for a thorough private medical exam. Once the meds kicked in I dropped 3 and half stones within a year (no diet necessary)about 50lbs. I have energy and my self respect back again. There is light at the end of the tunnel(smile).

It's a tough equation to balance in our own lives - and MUCH harder to encourage others (even our loved ones) to balance that equation.

Thanks for the wonderful comment on my blog - I emailed you right back, but my reply kept bouncing back.

This was what my email said:

``Thanks for that response, Ciara,
It would be an honour to be on your blogroll.
Glad you liked the Time photos .....
Do keep in touch
David''
