My Addiction

Not only have I been doing Take It Off Together Tuesdays, I've also been doing Summer of Me (Fat Ticker Fridays) at Baby Tea Leaves. Every Friday we check in with our weights, and if we're lucky we can win a prize for the week. So far I haven't won any, but that's o.k. LOL This week Christine at Baby Tea Leaves asked us to make a post with this:

-I'd have no problem losing weight (or keeping it off) if it weren't for ___________. (Fill in the blank--and it can be serious or not so serious, you decide!).

So here's my story. I'd have no problem losing weight (or keeping it off) if it weren't for my addiction to Coca-Cola. It's my one vice, weakness, call it what you will. It is my crack. LOL I've tried going cold turkey many times only to be wanting it so bad I can taste it. Funny thing is though, if I order a coke while I'm out, I NEVER finish it now. It's obviously a waste of money. I don't even finish the entire can that I limit myself per day. It doesn't even taste as good as it used to, but for some reason, I'm finding it very difficult to give it up. Could it be subconscious? Is it just that my body is so used to all the sugar and caffeine from it? I'm trying to taper off this time in hopes that I can get down to just one PER WEEK. Hey, I think I like it too much to give it up. LOL As for diet sodas, just can't drink them. Anything with artificial sweeteners makes me dizzy and my stomach sick.

isn't it funny about coke? there are certain foods (pizza) where i can literally taste coke because i need to drink it with pizza. it is seriously like a drug! fortunately i've been off Coke (the soda) for quite some time now (except strong urges with pizza) and now I must kick my coffee addiction. Great post!!

It's so hard to get over those addictions, isn't it? I keep sabotaging myself with mine. Keep up the good work though. You'll get there!

I get sick from aspertame, too! Though sweetners like Splenda don't seem to make me ill.

I think that one can a day is totally reasonable, as long as you plan for it. I'm on Weight Watchers, and LOVE me some slurpees in the summer, and I just make sure I've got points left at the end of the day. A can of pop is 3 points. For perspective, just having dropped below 150 and with the activity level of being a SAHM, I am now allowed 22 points per day (plus an extra 35 throughout the week if I need them).

Keep on keepin' on, girl! We'll get there...

Okay, here's a confession - I think I might have put on some weight while I was lounging by the beach on holiday.

We just got home and I think Coca-Cola might be great for jetlag!

I know exactly what you mean about being addicted to coke...I am a diet vanilla coke junkie. I have quit drinking pop when i was preg with my boys, just because of the caffenine, but that sprite and 7-up just did not do it for me. So I switched to caffenine free pop for awhile and eventually lost my desire for pop quite a bit. When I joined WW after my last child I lost 32 pounds, no pop, and was really watching what I ate, excerised more, and that program really worked for me. I am about ready to get back to the WW wagon again, a I am a firm believer that if you go to the weigh in's and to the meeting you can get a heck of alot of good receipes, and ideas how to choose a healthier life style. If I can just make myself take my thyroid medicine daily, it would probably help too....(I hate taking medicine, cause that means I have to drink water, yuck!) :(
